Every bespoke SJL Couture hat is designed and handmade by Sarah in her Hertfordshire studio. Whether you're dressing for Royal Ascot, a wedding or a special celebration, your piece will be created to complement your outfit and reflect your personal style.

How it works

Consultation
We begin with a one-to-one consultation, in person or virtually. We'll talk through your occasion, outfit, colour palette and any details you'd love to include. You're welcome to bring inspiration photos, fabric swatches or the outfit itself. We'll also take your measurements to ensure the perfect fit.

Design & quote
Following your consultation, you'll receive a design concept (a sketch or mood board where applicable), suggested materials and trims, a quote and a timeline for completion.

Confirming your design
A 50% deposit confirms your design and secures your place in the studio schedule. This covers the sourcing of your materials, and work begins once it's received.

Handcrafting
Sarah handcrafts your piece using high-quality materials and traditional millinery techniques, sending photo updates along the way so you can see it come to life.

Final fitting
Local clients are invited for a final fitting before collection or delivery. For clients further afield, detailed photos are shared for your approval.

Delivery
Once the remaining balance is paid, your hat is beautifully packaged and delivered, or ready to collect from the studio.
As each piece is made especially for you, we ask that any changes are discussed during the consultation and design stages. Significant alterations once production has begun may incur additional costs or extend the timeline. The deposit is non-refundable once materials have been sourced and work has started.
