Bespoke Hats
At SJLCouture, we offer unique, handcrafted bespoke hats designed to complement your indivduality and elevate your outfit. Whether you're dressing for a special occasion or simply want to add a touch of elegance to your wadrobe, each hat is tailored to represent your personal style.
Here is how the bespoke process works:
- Initial Consultation: We begin with a one-on-one consultation, either virtually or in-person. During the session, we'll discuss your vision, style, preference, occasion, colour palette and any specfic details you'd love to incorporate. You are more than welcome to bring inspiration photos, fabric swatches or even your outfit so we can create a piece that complements it perfectly. A fitting will also take place to understand your measurments for the hat.

Design Proposal & Quote: Following the consultation, we’ll provide a custom design concept along with a quote. You’ll receive a sketch or mood board (if applicable), fabric or trim suggestions, and a timeline for completion. Along the way of designing and creating, Sarah will update you with photos to make sure you love it!

Deposit & Design Confirmation: To move forward, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This secures your place in our production schedule and covers the sourcing of specialty materials. Once the deposit is received, your design is considered confirmed and work will begin.

Production: Your hat is lovingly handcrafted using high-quality materials and traditional millinery techniques. During this stage, minor updates may be made to enhance the final product. Please note: once production begins, significant design changes may not be possible without additional charges or timeline extensions.

Final Fitting or Review (if applicable): For local clients, a final fitting or review may be scheduled before delivery to ensure the perfect fit and finish. For non-local clients, detailed photos will be shared for approval.

Final Payment & Delivery: The remaining balance is due upon completion. Once paid, your bespoke hat will be beautifully packaged and shipped (or available for pickup).
*Design Changes & Cancellations*
Your hat is custom-made just for you, so we kindly ask that any desired changes be communicated during the consultation phase. Major alterations requested after production begins may incur additional costs. Because of the bespoke nature of our work, deposits are non-refundable, and cancellations are discouraged once materials are sourced and work has started.
Return Policy
At SJLCouture, we take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our products and want you to be delighted with your purchase. If you are not completely satisfied, please review our returns policy below:
Eligibility for Returns
- Custom and Bespoke Items: As our bespoke and custom-made hats and accessories are tailored specifically for you, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on these items unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
- Ready-to-Wear Items: Returns are accepted for ready-to-wear items in their original, unused condition, with tags and packaging intact, within 14 days of delivery.
Process for Returns
- Contact Us: Email sarah@sjlcouture.com within 7 days of receiving your item, stating your order number, reason for return, and photos if the item is damaged or faulty.
- Return Authorization: Once your return is approved, you will receive instructions on how to return your item.
- Shipping: The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty. We recommend using a tracked shipping service to ensure your return reaches us safely.
Refunds
- Refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days of receiving the returned item, provided it meets our return criteria.
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method, excluding original shipping costs.
Exchanges
Exchanges are subject to item availability. If you wish to exchange an item, please follow the return process above and place a new order for your desired product.

- Items worn, damaged, or altered after receipt
- Items returned after the 14-day period
