Charlotte
One of a kind · Handmade in St Albans
Description
Soft, romantic and beautifully balanced. Charlotte is a pale pink headpiece on a headband, adorned with a single rose and a sweeping swirl of crinoline.
A lovely choice for a mother of the bride, a wedding guest or a summer race day, and gentle enough for a blush-toned bridal look. Handmade by Sarah in her St Albans studio.
The headband base makes it comfortable to wear all day.
Care
Every piece is handmade, so a little care will keep it looking beautiful for years.
Storing: keep your hat in its box, or somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight, which can fade colours. Avoid plastic bags, as hats need to breathe. Pad the crown lightly with tissue so it holds its shape, and never rest anything on top.
Handling: lift your hat by the base or brim, never by the flowers, bows or trims.
Sinamay and straw: handle gently, as the fibres can crack if bent. A little steam, held at a distance, will soften and reshape a crushed loop or brim.
Wool, felt and berets: brush lightly with a soft brush to remove dust. Store with a natural moth deterrent such as cedar or lavender.
If it gets wet: blot gently with a soft cloth and let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators and hairdryers.
Please don’t wash or dry-clean your hat. If it ever needs attention, get in touch and Sarah will be happy to advise or repair it.
Design
Designed and made by hand by Sarah Jayne Loreti in her St Albans studio. Each piece is shaped, stitched and trimmed by hand using traditional millinery techniques, so no two are ever exactly alike.
Sarah trained under award-winning milliner Katherine Elizabeth and holds a BA in Fashion Design. Many of her colours and shapes are inspired by summers spent in Italy.
